The National Runaway switchboard says that 1 out of every 7 teenagers will run away from home at least once before the age of 18.
According to the Department of Homeland Security in 2008 3,130,000 people applied for Legal Permanent residence. That number does not include the number of illegal immigrants. They risk their lives to escape religious persecution, violence, sexual abuse, and natural disasters that have plagued their homes. Others travel to America in search of jobs and a new life.
